John P. Miller graduated Loyola University of L A with a B. A. in 1967, received J. D. Loyola Law School 1970. Legal career includes 3 years as a Special Agent F. B. I, 3 years Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, 23 years litigation with firm of Morris, Polich & Purdy serving as managing partner of the Orange County office and on the firm's executive committee. Litigation experience includes lawsuits involving severe personal injuries, products liability, business, real estate, landlord/tenant, complex construction defect cases including architects' and engineers' liability, soils/grading and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Retired from active practice in 2000, worked as a volunteer attorney with the Public Law Center in Santa Ana handling a variety of matters including homeowner/association disputes, lemon law automobile, landlord/tenant cases, business and family law matters. Named Public Law Center Volunteer Attorney of the Year in 2001, received the California State Bar 2002 President's Pro Bono Service Award and the Loyola Law School Board of Governors' Award for Public Service.

Trained mediator through the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law, including certification in mediation of Complex Construction Disputes. Was certified arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau's Auto Line Program (lemon law disputes), Kaiser Permanent Mandatory Dispute Resolution System and California Department of Insurance Mediation Program. Has served as a mediator with the Community Service Program in Orange County and as a Temporary Judge in Orange County Superior Court. Former member of SCMA, ACR. Member of Orange County Bar's ADR section, served as Section Chair in 2006, served on the California State Bar's Committee on ADR. Served as mediator on the LASC ADR panel since 2004 and the Orange County ADR panel since 2009, is a founding member and serves on the OCBA Arbitration & Mediation Administrative Committee.
